Privacy

What We Run is for showing the machines and systems you run, so other people can build the same thing. It's built to know as little about you as possible.

What we keep

A usernameMade up by you. No real names. Change it anytime.
Your emailOnly to log you in. It's never shown in the app, to anyone.
What you postYour clips and photos (with sound), part names, where you got things, and your questions and answers.
Your phone's notification addressOnly if you turn notifications on. Turn them off, log out or delete your account and it's gone.
Your taps that need savingLikes, saves, bells, who you blocked, and reports. So those buttons keep working on any phone.

What we never keep

Your locationThe app never asks for it. Hidden GPS and phone details are wiped from every clip on your phone, before it's sent, even ones from your camera roll.
Your real nameThere's no place for it.
Your internet addressThe app doesn't log it. Supabase, which handles logging in, keeps it while you're logged in, and its login records are deleted after a day.
What you watchNo tracking, no ads, no selling data, no analytics. What you see first is never decided by money.

What other people can see

PublicYour username, what you post, and your questions and answers. Watching doesn't need an account, so anyone can see these.
Only youYour email, what you saved, your bells, who you blocked. If you report a post or send a heads-up, nobody ever sees it was you.
No private messagesThere aren't any. Questions are public, on the part they're about.

What's in your clip is on you

Faces, license plates, house numbers, signs or a view can show who or where you are. Check your clip before you post it. If someone else's clip shows something personal, tap ⋯ and send them a private heads-up.

Notifications

Off unless you turn them on. You only get them for things about you: a question on your part, an answer to your question, being @tagged, or a system you rang the bell on going down or back up. Never "come back to the app" nagging. Each one is locked (encrypted) before it leaves, so Apple or Google deliver it but can't read it.

Store links

Most store links earn the app nothing. If a store ever pays the app a small cut, that link carries one code for the whole app and says so right under it. It costs you nothing extra. Once you're on the store's site, their own privacy rules apply. The app never learns who bought what.

Saved on your phone only

Unfinished posts and downloads for no-signal viewing stay on your phone. They're never sent anywhere until you tap Post.

Delete means deleted

Delete a post, a part, or your whole account anytime, in the app. It's gone right away from the app: videos, answers, everything. Backup copies at our database company run out on their own within days.

Who runs the app for us

SupabaseStores accounts and posts, and handles logging in.
CloudflareStores the videos and photos, and sends them to your phone. It also turns what's said in a clip into captions, right where the clip is kept, so no other company hears it. The app doesn't keep a record of who watched what.
VercelServes the app to your phone.
ResendSends your login email. Nothing else.

They only get what they need to do those jobs.

Age

Anyone can watch, no account needed, and watching collects nothing. To make an account (to post, ask, like or save) you need to be 13 or older.

If this changes

We'll update this page and change the date at the top. We won't start collecting something new without saying so here first.
